About Judy ....
Larry Schull had heard about greyhound adoption and searched for a contact, which he finally found. He arranged to meet with a woman in Utica, and Larry drove there excitedly waiting to ask her a thousand questions about Judy and greyhounds. The woman got out of the car, brought Judy over to Larry, and said, "here is your dog." She hopped in her car and drove away. So much for introductions!
Judy was four and had been a top winning racer, but she settled right in and became not only a loving family member to Larry, then later to Barbara, but also was the first Ambassador for Greyhounds in Buffalo.
Judy loved everyone she met and convinced a lot of people that a greyhound would be a great pet. She was also multi-talented. She obtained an AKC Obedience Degree as well as her Lure Coursing Field Championship.
More than anything Judy liked to eat. If Larry did an educational visit she would wait until he turned his back and then go help herself to the goodies that were waiting for the meeting to end. In obedience class she would sneak into ladies purses for treats whenever she could.
She was so gentle and trusting that Barb was able to hold her head while a vet put stitches in a tear without anesthetic in the field. She didn't even threaten anyone or whimper. She knew they were helping her and that was good enough for her.
Judy lived with Barbara until she was 16 and enjoyed all but the last day. Judy told her when it was time to go and Barbara let her go. Barbara sent Judy to meet Larry at the Rainbow Bridge, where he was waiting, reunited once more.
Epilogue....
In 1985 Larry Schull adopted Green Mt Judy and that is where the story began. He volunteered with GPA until 1991 when BGA was formed. Larry and Judy truly made a great team. Nineteen years, and 1500+ greyhounds later the passion and love Larry had for greyhounds continues through the volunteers. Larry and Judy wait at the Bridge to greet our Greyhounds and Friends when it is their time to cross over.
But this is not the end of the story, merely the beginning of the next chapter....
Thank You ...
